Jackie putting the Vinsmoke's cloning on blast because removing emotions does not a super soldier make. Without fear, people can't exercise caution and step back to think of how to avoid bad outcomes. Without empathy, people can't account for how others will act or recognize when it's time to step in and help, leading to social dynamics breaking down. Without a conscience, people have no loyalty and are just as likely to turn on their allies as well as their enemies.

Jackie knows this because just about every facet of the Underworld is completely dedicated to learning how to read people, navigating and blending into various social spheres, establishing connections, and even just pretending to like the people you're working with. Reiju is the only one of the Vinsmokes who would be able to do that, but the others sans Sanji are literally incapable of surviving in any environment except a battlefield. And even then not very effectively.

Jackie had dedicated years of her life learning every shady facet of the criminal cesspool she was set to one day inherit and she can say without a doubt that it was created by emotions. Learning to navigate and control both yours and the people around you feelings is its bread and butter, its very foundation. She truly didn’t believe any of the Vinsmokes (beyond Reiju) were even capable of any level of social subterfuge. They just…didn’t care. Sure they were strong but what was all that strength for if there’s no light behind their eyes and no rhythm to the beat of their hearts? It still disturbs her knowing a guy as sweet and forthcoming as the Strawhats cook was related to them.

Writing an expose was easy, the only herculean task it presented was trying to keep her own feelings and snark out of it (not that she really needed to, bias runs strong in the WEJ but she prefers to be objective with her writing). Morgans had raised a feathery eyebrow as she submitted the piece and let a long whistle.

“Coo coo! You certainly did not hold back. They really have earned you ire.”

“I’d hate them less if I didn’t have to work with them.”

“Yes.” Morgans steepled his wings. “But you understand what printing this would do to the paper don’t you?”

Jackie nodded. “It jeopardizes our relationship with the Germa Kingdom and puts Sora of The Sea at risk of cancellation.”

“And that’s putting it mildly.”

“However, I still believe this is the right choice. The future is coming ever closer and copper masquerading as comrades don’t fit into the Underworld I will be ruling nor the world I intend to entertain.”

“The Generalissimo will not be happy about this. He and his business partner could even threaten an outright war with us over this.”

Silence blanketed the two for a moment before dastardly grins and chittering snickers starting spilling from their lips and even those quickly escalated into full on maniacal laughter.

“CAWHAHAHAHAHA!”

“OH NO NOT- pfft - CAESAR CLOWN AND VINSMOKE JUDGE! WHATEVER SHALL WE DO- HAHAHAHAHA!”

Morgans wiped a stray tear. “If they remember what’s good for them they won’t do a thing. We'll still be taking a loss with Sora but this is too juicy of a story to pass up!”

“You know I’ve been thinking about it and Sora's been getting pretty stale lately. It could very be time for a reboot.”

“Firstly, Sora is classic..”

“You’re just saying that because you run the business that prints it but go on.”

“And second what characters could we even use for this supposed reboot?”

An all too happy grin crossed the heiress's face as she pulled out a card and a baby den-den from her bag, both pink and with a strong butterfly motif throughout.

“You could say I’ve got a gal who’s in need of a proper stage and spotlight.”

“You are deceptively petty kid.”

“Excuse you! I am as sweet as they come.”

“Like Belladona.”

“That’s must be why she likes me so much.”

since i'm sad that my copy of qiang jin jiu vol. 3 is going to take AGES to arrive (thanks for nothing 7🌊 I can't believe you keep getting worse at your fkn job) tonight i'll be working on my songyu wip to at least cry over something i actually love AHAHAHAHAHA

anyways ummm final thoughts . i think veilguard is good . sure it has some issues , i do have criticisms of it , but i still think its a good game , and a good dragon age game .

most of its problems i see ppl talking abt just have me going "it mostly stems from the fact that it had to be inquisitions sibling" and i stand by that . it was never going to be origins 2 . origins was 15 years ago . i cannot see them ever going back to that , which isnt a bad thing , but i know some ppl just dont like that fact .

i Really enjoyed rook . like immensely . they have such a determined character that u can drive forward , i really enjoy how they set up rook to be their own person but also the player's character . odessa de riva you will always be famous .

the companions were so good . like absolutely fantastic across the board , there were none i disliked . which is impressive for a da game , as most games have companions i go "meh" at or i just fuckin dislike lol . i loved how they interacted w one another , their stories were so interesting , im happy to have gotten to know them . i do wish taash's culture was handled so much better , it was very clunky with how weekes wrote it which is such a shame because the gender aspect of their story was sooo good , only to be bogged down by weekes' whatever the fuck they were going for . do wish we got more davrin outside of assan too . but i really enjoyed their stories even with my criticisms .

i honestly really enjoyed the story , and im excited to replay it with alternate choices from odessa's playthru .! i also have 4 achievements left to get so that'll be fun lol .

anyways yeah . veilguard fun i rlly liked and enjoyed my time with it . gave me one of my new favorite ocs ever . im gonna be replaying it a lot i think in the future .

I picked out a bunch of fantasy books from new authors (who I haven't read before), and I pre-ordered their books for the month of February. Here's some quick slides I made for instagram to make bullet point reasons for why I pre-ordered.

(I noticed afterward that Lex Croucher made it known that Gwen & Art Are Not In Love is not an Arthurian retelling; it's a historical fantasy loosely based on the Arthurian tales)

Note: After pre-ordering from various book shops I got an email from B&N that they didn't process my payment even though the pre-orders wouldn't be charged till publication date (which are months out from time of purchase in a few cases), so my order was cancelled. I only bought from B&N because of the pre-order sale they had running, so I just pre-ordered from Amazon because it was most accessible for me at the time. Can't wait to receive all my pre-orders.
